Breeding Focus at Lynwood

At Lynwood, our goal is to produce well-grown, structurally sound Border Leicester rams with the temperament, balance and stamina to perform in real-world commercial systems. We believe a good ram should not only look the part, but move freely, maintain condition through the joining season, and deliver consistent, long-term results in the paddock.

Our rams are selected for their growth for age, carcase quality, and dense, soft-handling wool, with a strong emphasis on evenness across the drop. We aim for quiet, manageable sheep with presence and doing ability—rams that support productivity without requiring constant input.

Because our focus is on the commercial producer of first-cross ewes, we pay close attention to the traits that flow on through the ewe lines—fertility, mothering ability, milking strength and lamb survival. We’re not just breeding for a sale day—we’re building sheep that create value long after they leave our gate.

Each season, our aim is to step forward: to keep improving type, consistency, and efficiency—while staying true to the reliable, practical Border Leicester that built this breed’s reputation.
